Logical Frame work


It is a one of the Module which deals with writing proposal (not directly) but gives an picture of how to put things in a format, It is being taught by Mr. Prakash Bhatt who is a very familiar instructor for fellows and as well right person to teach the LFA (according to the all graduated alumni's) In the first day of module fellows learned what is LFA and why it is important fellows are waiting for remaining session to understand it deeply. We wish them all the best for the future days.

Guest Speaker Session: Mr.Karan Mahajan


Fellows had an Interaction with Mr.Karan Mahajan, is a Joseph Henry Jackson Award-winning Indian novelist. Mahajan was born in Stamford, Connecticut, and grew up in New Delhi, India. He studied English and Economics at Stanford University. He currently lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. He has contributed writing to The Believer, The Daily Beast, The San Francisco Chronicle, Granta, The New York Sun, and The Utopian.

Mr.Karan shared unique insights of different entrepreneurs and showed with examples that individual holds key in entrepreneurial stories irrespective of his regional, educational and knowledge background.

A Real life Example of an "Innovative Learning Process" : Experience sharing by Mr.Vaibhav


Fellows were amazed to see how a concept or skill can be mastered irrespective of age, knowledge or expertise if innovative process of learning is followed. Mr.Vaibhav shared that how he came across the word nanotechnology when he was studying fifth standard, what are the challenges he faced to understand the concept in deeper and how he evolved his own creative methodologies and ultimately went on to win South India level competition on nanotechnology.

After the theory on Sub sector Analysis fellows went on to study a "product" this process will help them to understand who are the people behind the real shop and market, Where the product get produced what is the condition of production, what is a supply chain and how the value get added to the product and how it increases the product price each and everything....

Alumni of the Week # 28

Sub Sector Module


After 5K fellows are started working on Sub Sector Module. It is being taught by Mr. Dr. Athani Who have been working with livelihood Organization from many years. It is one of the Favorite module of all the graduated fellows. After this module any one can understand the chain behind the product which comes from the producer to buyer and even understand the role of each person involved in the market at any level,after the theory fellows will study market as well any one products.

During the 5K


It was very nice to see fellows with their great confidence which was achieved within 4 days. They have taken the rainy season as an opportunity and went to sell the umbrella to the huge crowd in Hubli. the Times of India has captured them in the camera. It is very proud to say that the fellows who didn't know the marketing basics even are masters in selling and bargaining.

World Environment Day

Fellows of Deshpande fellowship Program took initiative on "World Environment day" and celebrated it very specially. They collaborated with Shikshana foundation and planed 50 plants in the Kalgatagi taluk Arebasavkopaa village school campus. This was leadership activity done by shivakumar Yadav, Mallikarjun, Mahesh and Ajit. Program congratulate them on their success and Thank Shikshana foundation and Primary school of Arebasavkoppa for supporting fellows to implement their idea. Activity was supported by villagers and school children.

Integrated Handloom Cluster Development Programme






Fellows had visited to Integrated Handloom Cluster Development Programme of Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation. Fellows could understand this initiative sponsored by The Development Commissioner, Ministry of Textile, and Govt. of India which is collective effort for improving lives of weavers of skillful labours in the region through the execution of Integrated Handloom Cluster Development Programme which serves multiple purposes such as catering the handloom industry as well its development.

Arpita Dairy at Gadag





Fellows had visited Arpita Dairy at located at Gadag. This is a Dairy Farming Initiative which has its own uniqueness as livelihood model. Fellows have tried to understand the all components involved in this livelihood process. Also they understood the internal factors for sustainability of the livelihood initiative and external factors too. Fellows understood the transformation of the structures into livelihood outcomes.

Visit to H2O Plant at Gadag

Fellows have visited one of the plants of H2o for Humanity at Kurtkoti village of Gadag. By this field visit fellows were able to understand that H2O has created access to safe potable water at very at reasonable price, affordable by the poor for better lives of people. Also fellows understood this initiative of H2O as livelihood model as well means of better health. Fellows understood that public, private, partnership is required for a sustainable and cost-effective livelihood model.

Agriculture Science Foundation

Fellows had an exposure field visit at Gadag. They have visited different organization in order to understand livelihood model. They have visited Agriculture Science Foundation which is located in Krushi Vidnyan Kendra which is working for enriching farmer through Farmer Resource Center. At ASF fellows could see the tree based mango Farming as a livelihood model which aims at better livelihood for farmers.

MOVE Module

Fellows have learned about MOVE module which stands Market Oriented Value Enhancement , which emphasis more on the customer centric approach in the business. But, fellows were able to understand and choose the customers’ need oriented product or service rather than the customers’ wants. And then only a person can be sustain in certain business field. Also, fellows understood the process of understanding customers need through ‘Participatory Market Appraisal’ and practiced setting a business through the practical assignment.


Livelihood Module


Fellows had a livelihood module where they could understand internal and external components of the livelihood process. Also as a set of economic activity creating own employment in order to meet requirement of self and household in sustainable manner. Trough this module, fellows could understand and tried to come up with different livelihood model.

Guest Speaker Session of Mr. Kevin and Eric Cluff


Fellows had a Guest speaker session on 3rd of June with Kevin Culff and Eric Cluff on 3rd of June. Kevin and Eric are part of H2o for Humanity as Managing Director and Founder member respectively. They both have delivered a session about their efforts which is has been executed by H2o. Especially, they have explained more in detail about their project at Gadag which aims at creating access to safe potable water at very at reasonable price, affordable by the poor. By the session fellows understood about community organization which says about linking the social needs with the available resources. Also fellows could understand the concept of social entrepreneurship as well community organization at the ground. Entirely, fellows learn about for profit social venture as means of social change.

Guest Speaker session of Nishant Baranwal


The fellows had a guest speaker session of passionate persona in development sector such as Nishant Baranwal. He is working as Associate Parliament to Parliamentarian and renowned industrialist Mr. Naveen Jindal. Fellows have got opportunity to listen about the policy making and experience of Nishant at state and central level. Fellows understood that any person or group can step ahead to pose our government and administration for appropriate execution of proposed by the system. Also fellows could learn different successful models in the development sector. The session by Nishant has left the impression that we people can be part of the change that we expect in the society.

Guest Speaker session of Mr. Manjunath L.H.


The fellows had a Guest Speaker session on 1st of June with L.H. Manjuntha who works as Executive Director of SKDRDP. He has delivered a speech on SKDRDP’s different activities and especially about Siri Gramodyoga Samsthe, highlighting as integrative model of livelihood. Fellows understood that Self Help Group model is enabling process to integrate people to improve their lives through the self sustainable approach. The fellows find the session as source of inspiration of their vision. Also, they could understand the livelihood model of SKDRDP as community and institutional effort.
