DFP accepting applications for Cohort-9


Greetings from Deshpande Foundation!


DFP is a dynamic, intense, and interactive training program designed to produce successful social entrepreneurs. Through a comprehensive combination of modules and practical experiences, Fellows will learn existing best practices and engage with leaders in the field of social entrepreneurship as well as notable local innovators in order to develop a working knowledge of leading social change models. The program will leverage this theoretical framework to aid each participant in the creation of an individualized proposal for social change. Fellows will be expected to implement their innovations with partner institutions. Fifty (50) Fellowships will be awarded. The last date for application is 30 April 2012. Women are encouraged to apply.

Changes in Graduation program

Today Fellows have presented their unique perspective, Module and Fund raising events to the junior fellows. It was an very great program where cohort 7 fellows were very eager to listen to their feelings, experiences and learning. In the fund raising event presentations fellows experience inspired all the new fellows., and they got very motivation word from the experienced fellows. Tomorrow the Graduation Ceremony will start on 5PM and till 7PM it will be going on.

Ecotourism of DFP 6


Fellows of Deshpande Fellowship Program have visited the center of Agastya International Foundation at Kuppam for 3 days, from 2nd of August to 4th of August, 2011. The fellows have visited the place to learn about ecotourism as well undergone the “Creative Training” and learned about team work and different group activities which made all the fellows resourceful as well fellows practiced few tools of “Participatory Learning Activity”. It was an opportunity for the fellows to learn about Agastya International Foundation’s effort which aims to make child to think and to become more creative.

After conducting Fund raising event in Mysore another team of Fellows implemented their idea of Event by organizing a "Saptasitar vadana." in Hubli. The Kalkeri Sangeet Mahavidyalaya Childern were the participants. They are too young even thou their performance surprised all the audience. It was an great intitaive to support this school in this school the children are getting state studies as well as opportunity to develop some skills which are going to contribute to the Indian culture. The program congratulate them on their success and appreciate their effort to execute this idea. We wish them for their future.

Natyotsava


Here Another Fund raising event by cohort 6 in Mysore only 4 fellows, Ramachandra, Pavitra, Shivkumar Biradar and Shivkumar Yadav, took this initiative, and started working on it. This event is being hosted by Miss. Shushma she runs a program in FM channel. Mr. Ashvat is a guest of this program. This event will start at 4:30 today. We glade to know the fellows have taken initiative to organize a event in Mysore and mobilize people and convince sponsors to sponsor them for their idea. Really program appreciate them for linking Deshpande Fellowship Program with other organization and We wish them all the best.

Gana Madhurya



Deshpande Fellowship program proudly announce that the first Fund raising event of the 6th batch has been conducted in the Bijapur on 17th of July 2011. The event was organized by Babu Hippargi, Mahesh Sajjan, Divya, shantinath, successfully it was conducted and around 400 audience were attended.This was an Gana Madhurya program and the combination of all kind of activities like comedy, songs, acting, and talented people presented their talent etc.

DFP classes

Fellows are working on Fund Raising some of the fellows went to Mysore to organize a Dance Competition and few of them to Bijapur to conduct folk songs evening, To remind and give a taste of their culture, one team is working in Hubli itself and organized "JUST DANCE HUBLI" and fellows are getting good response from the people and participants. Session By Abhay Kumar


Today surprisingly fellows got opportunity to talk with Mr. Abhay from Prerana organization. It was an great session for fellows Mr. Abhay spoke about Advocacy and the community with which he is working. He shared some incidents related to the advocacy. He made fellows to think about the government programs and schemes which are really in the favor of poor people and people need to be aware about this, he gave a call for action.

Today fellows had a session By Mr. Prasanna From Desi. He is a founder and adviser of the organization. It was not about the what he did and who is he? As he is well known person in Karnataka and India. it was an very important session by him for fellows about entrepreneurship and the qualities of Entrepreneur. Fellows were impressed because it was not taught it was practically did, Communication and the presentation skill were discussed. This session is going to be continued tomorrow morning.

Logical Frame work


It is a one of the Module which deals with writing proposal (not directly) but gives an picture of how to put things in a format, It is being taught by Mr. Prakash Bhatt who is a very familiar instructor for fellows and as well right person to teach the LFA (according to the all graduated alumni's) In the first day of module fellows learned what is LFA and why it is important fellows are waiting for remaining session to understand it deeply. Guest Speaker Session: Mr.Karan Mahajan


Fellows had an Interaction with Mr.Karan Mahajan, is a Joseph Henry Jackson Award-winning Indian novelist. Mahajan was born in Stamford, Connecticut, and grew up in New Delhi, India. He studied English and Economics at Stanford University. He currently lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. He has contributed writing to The Believer, The Daily Beast, The San Francisco Chronicle, Granta, The New York Sun, and The Utopian.

Mr.Karan shared unique insights of different entrepreneurs and showed with examples that individual holds key in entrepreneurial stories irrespective of his regional, educational and knowledge background.

A Real life Example of an "Innovative Learning Process" : Experience sharing by Mr.Vaibhav


Fellows were amazed to see how a concept or skill can be mastered irrespective of age, knowledge or expertise if innovative process of learning is followed. Mr.Vaibhav shared that how he came across the word nanotechnology when he was studying fifth standard, what are the challenges he faced to understand the concept in deeper and how he evolved his own creative methodologies and ultimately went on to win South India level competition on nanotechnology.
