Interview For Fellows

Sub sector analysis

It was very good to listen to the presentations of fellows on their sub sector analysis study and on the logic of a organization to intervene in the project area, according to fellows after this they came to know how does the organization work with internal and external environment and how does it works on the portfolio of the people with whom they plan to work, how they plan strategically to use the internal and external resource. The teams which did study on products (sub sector analysis) was very interesting. They were able to explain the channels through which product enters the market and the players who enters the market with their own value additions to the existing product. What is their profit range, how much the person is getting who is really involved in the production process. and how the wholesalers are able to make more money easily out of that etc..
If they want to start and enterprise or a organization where they find their intervene point. Really the field experience they shared was enough to explain their learnings.

Guest Speaker : Ramakrishna

Yesturday it was our

Opportunity as a test of Learning

Here DFP planned to celebrate the success of fellows in 5K. by giving a small trip to Sirsi. This included an opportunity for some initiators who were very eager to jump and be a responsible member in a committee which supposed to work on task and had some responsibilities. From organizing the trip, fixing the place, food responsibility, security of fellows, finance, everything was done by fellows. after the trip they were able to explain the learnings of respective committee. What better they can do if they do the same thing again what are all correction they are willing to do.
As a part of trip they visited the Charaka (Desi) they saw how the process goes and how the women co-operative society is managing it. The way they organization is being run by them was very impressive for fellows. Even the small things are given equal importance to maintain process properly. How the technology has been included in to the production process etc.. Now the fellows are much eager to take responsibilities for Eco tourism.

5K Presentation

Woo!! It was great to see fellows talking about the investment and business terminologies. Till now they acted as a buyer. but they understood that as a seller how it is difficult to convince customers. They explained how they felt when people rejected to see even their product, bargaining with women is the biggest challenging thing for all of them. Their expression was the merrier to show their experience. They have Broke the record of senior fellows by earning around 37.000/- rupees in 7 days by investing 95.000/- rupees. They say life long they will remember the experience and now they are able to find the value and real price of the things or product.

5K Challenge

Fellows of the cohort 5 are on the 5K challenge. In this activity they will be on ground whereas they have to do marketing with investment of 5000/- and get back with minimum 1500/- profit. In the second day they shared their learning of first day of selling products. They feel that their ego has came-down and they came to know how difficult it is to convince the customers. Really it a challenge for them and they are struggling to come up with the profit. This will be the most memorable movement of their life.

Today COHORT 5 fellows started with their Entrepreneurial Motivational Training Module. It is being taken by Mr. Chinnababu. Team Leader and Ajay Program Manager LEAD. It has been added by other activities which are relevant to the topic and session to make this training more practical. This module has turned as a Favorite module. because by this module fellows got to know their own Entrepreneurial potentials. at the same time they come to know what are their Motivational and leanings styles. Personally many of the fellows feel that this module made them more serious about their goal and helped them to understand their status at present and also how they can work on future plan.

Mr. Russell Paul Maddock

It our pleasure to have Mr. Russell Poul Moddock as a guest speaker for Deshpande Fellowship Program on23rd November he is Former Managing Director Of Strategic Account Management At Aon Corp. in Chicago. II. And he has a huge experience in Risk Management: He discussed about it with the fellows. And explained what risk is and what all the steps we can take in to solve or to come out from that risk. Really it was a great experience sharing session. In order to understand the risk below mentioned steps were discussed.

Identification of the risk

Measure / Analyze the risk

Eliminate

Manage, rethink the risk for further steps.

the session was winded up with the sentence which says Risk is neutral, it is not good not even bad, if you can manage it and think profit or benefit out of it.

Alumni of the Week #7: Savita Kallayyanamath

Our seventh Alumni of the Week title goes to Savita Kallayyanamath of Cohort-I, who has continuously offered support to the Fellowship Program since her graduation.

She continued this tradition last week, when she made a generous financial contribution to the Fellowship Program. She has also contributed through providing Fellows with moral support as well as many times offering up constructive ideas to improve the Fellowship and its curriculum.

Thanks very much to Savita for her steady support and we wish her continued success in her post as Training Manager for SAMUHA. Keep it up Savita!
